Freelance recap Sept. 26, 2012
Boca Raton Christian extended the longest winning streak in Freelance this week by beating Princeton Christian, 60-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for Boca Raton Christian.
All Saints' Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 46th to 16th in the league.
Corey Koski provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Florida School for the Deaf beat Vanguard. He completed 16 passes for 341 yards and seven touchdowns and also ran for 50 yards. Koski's favorite target this week was Charles Elliott, who caught four passes for 104 yards.
Austin Brady threw for 211 yards and 65 touchdowns. He went six-seven with one interceptions.
Luke Porter made the biggest impact on defense this week as Harvest Community fell to Providence. The 6-foot-4 sophomore forced one fumble and racked up one sack.
Jordan Curry was the best wideout in the league this week as Munroe lost to Rocky Bayou Christian. Curry tallied eight receptions for 141 yards. Andrew Higdon helped Munroe's passing attack out by catching two balls for 14 yards.
Keyshawn Hayes was the most productive running back in Freelance this week. He ran for 225 yards on 26 carries as Cedar Creek Christian fell to the Knights. Teammate Daijuan Jackson added to the ground attack by rushing for 59 yards.
Rocky Bayou Christian's Tyler Paskell and Josh Preston have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Paskell has thrown for 779 yards this season, while Preston, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 32 catches for 460 yards. The Dragons' Koski leads the league in rushing yards with 518.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mater Academy Charter takes on Reagan. At the moment, Mater Academy Charter is in eighth, while Reagan is in seventh.
Shorecrest Prep moved up to 379 from 453 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Chargers climbed the ranks as a result of a 22-0 win over the Chargers.
