The Bayfield Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 58-8 loss at the hands of Alamosa. While losing is never fun, Bayfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Alamosa is ranked 108th).
Renae Foutz was Bayfield's leading scorer, having posted three points.
Sylvia Hesford held things down on the boards with three rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alamosa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Morgan Ortega, who scored 12 points along with five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelin Garcia, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Bayfield has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Alamosa, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bayfield will take on Montezuma-Cortez at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Montezuma-Cortez is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.5 points per game. As for Alamosa, they will play host again and welcome Ignacio, where tip off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
