The Castle View Sabercats were the 62-55 winner over the Chaparral Wolverines when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Castle View took a 68-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chaparral. While losing is never fun, Castle View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Chaparral is ranked ninth).
Despite the loss, Castle View still got an impressive performance from Vitorio Dante, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 37.1% of Castle View's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Evan Mckean was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Castle View and nudges their season record down to 10-5. As for Chaparral, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Castle View will be playing in front of their home fans against Ponderosa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ponderosa is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Chaparral, they will square off against Mountain Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mountain Vista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Friday.
