Sonora is 3-0 against Valencia since April of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Sonora Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Valencia Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Sonora will be strutting in after a win while Valencia will be coming in after a loss.
On Thursday, Sonora got the win against Sunny Hills by a conclusive 61-40.
Meanwhile, Valencia's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of El Dorado by a score of 51-48. While losing is never fun, Valencia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 661st, while El Dorado is ranked 302nd).
Sonora is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Valencia, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
Everything came up roses for Sonora against Valencia when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 68-35 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sonora since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
