Deposit-Hancock fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Morris Central Mustangs on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Mustangs 70-66. Deposit-Hancock has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Deposit-Hancock still got an impressive performance from Blake Fortunato, who scored 24 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The matchup was Fortunato's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Gonzalez, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Deposit-Hancock bumped their record down to 3-2 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Morris Central, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Deposit-Hancock will be home for the holidays to greet Oxford Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Morris Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Margaretville Central at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
