Baseball Recap: Beech Grove Comes Up Short

The Beech Grove Hornets lost 14-8 to the Lapel Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Beech Grove saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Richardson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Richardson is becoming a predictor of the Hornets' success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 2-1 (and 8-9-1 when he doesn't). Guerin Boshears was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Beech Grove has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10-1 record this season. As for Lapel, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.

Coincidentally, Beech Grove and Lapel will both be playing Guerin Catholic the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Hornets will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
