South Sequoia recap November 5, 2013
Shafter scaled the state rankings by moving to 519 from 565 this week, the biggest jump in South Sequoia. The Generals were able to move up by defeating Chavez 50-14.
Bakersfield Christian extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Taft, 49-0. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Josh Jackson had an awesome week catching the football as Bakersfield Christian beat the Wildcats. He caught 11 passes for 214 yards.
Kyle Millwee provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Shafter bested the Titans. He completed 12 passes for 222 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for 124 yards. Millwee's key target this week was Richard Nourse, who caught 5 passes for 151 yards.
Brandon Jones threw for 331 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 19-30 with 0 interceptions.
Jackson was the best receiver in the league this week as Jerald Pierucci's team topped Taft. Jackson tallied 11 receptions for 214 yards. Zach Balfanz helped Bakersfield Christian's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 74 yards.
Bakersfield Christian's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jones has thrown for 2,605 yards and 36 touchdowns this season, while Jackson has 43 catches for 1,005 yards.
An important game coming up in South Sequoia this week will be when Ricky Ishida's team takes on Wasco. The Generals are currently in third, while the Tigers are in first.
Jarudd Prosser's team fell to the Eagles 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Colt Niblett caught 2 passes for 52 yards in the loss.
