If the Briarcrest Christian Saints were feeling good off their 42-10 takedown of the Craigmont Chiefs on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Briarcrest Christian ended up on the wrong side of a rough 66-41 walloping at the hands of Whitehaven on Friday. Briarcrest Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Whitehaven apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2021.
When it comes to explaining why Briarcrest Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Hallie Turner. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with 3 steals. Madeleine Lowrance was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 8 rebounds.
Whitehaven got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tierney Kelsey out in front who scored 24 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Kelsey has scored at least 25% of Whitehaven's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taniyah Hurt, who scored 16 points along with 6 steals.
Briarcrest Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Whitehaven, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Briarcrest Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against White Station at 1:30 p.m. on November 25th. As for Whitehaven, they will face off against Wenonah at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Wenonah focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
