After flying high against the Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors last Friday, the Northside Christian Academy Knights came back down to earth. Northside Christian Academy fell 64-55 to Concord Academy on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Northside Christian Academy came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Concord Academy is ranked 93rd).
Concord Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sean Birmingham, who scored 19 points along with four steals and three blocks. Birmingham has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Andre Rudy, who scored 15 points.
Northside Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 19-10 record this season. As for Concord Academy, they pushed their record up to 14-14 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northside Christian Academy will take on New Garden Friends at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. New Garden Friends is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for Concord Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Metrolina Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
