The Broome Street Academy Warriors will head out on the road to challenge Brooklyn College Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Broome Street Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Broome Street Academy gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Winchendon 92-62 at home. The win was all the more spectacular given Broome Street Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 141st in New York, while Winchendon is ranked 49th in Massachusetts).
Broome Street Academy relied on the efforts of Samuel Acevedo, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and six assists, and Andre Wright, who dropped a triple-double on 27 points, 14 rebounds, and ten steals. Acevedo is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Demitrius Gould, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Brooklyn College Academy had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 54.6 points), and they went ahead and made it 11 on Friday. They blew past Classics, posting a 108-20 victory at home. Brooklyn College Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.
Broome Street Academy has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. As for Brooklyn College Academy, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1.
Broome Street Academy strolled past Brooklyn College Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2022 by a score of 79-63. The rematch might be a little tougher for Broome Street Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
