The Brush Beetdiggers will be playing at home against the Resurrection Christian Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Brush scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 62-24 victory over Frontier Academy. The win was some much needed relief for Brush as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Brush's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karime Castillo led the charge by scoring ten points along with eight steals and six assists. Another player making a difference was Sarah Becker, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Resurrection Christian put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They really took it to Sterling for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-19 victory on the road. Winning may never get old, but Resurrection Christian sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Resurrection Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Klein, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Klein hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Flikkema, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Brush's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Resurrection Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Monday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Brush have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 31.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Resurrection Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 34.9 rebounds per game. Given Brush's sizeable advantage in that area, Resurrection Christian will need to find a way to close that gap.
