Baseball Recap: Cascade Beats Cornersville for Their Fourth Straight Win

Cascade barely beat Cornersville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Champions blew past the Bulldogs 19-2 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Champions, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Jaxson Milliken and Wickey Parker made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Milliken tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Parker pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Milliken went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Parker went 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Parker a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jordan Childress was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Crouch, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Cascade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the fourth in a row for Cascade, bringing their record up to 9-3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Cornersville, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Cascade has already played their next contest, a 7-6 win against Moore County on the 5th. As for Cornersville, they will welcome Hampshire at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season.
