Nathan Hale is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Ingraham on Monday. The Raiders put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 23-3 victory. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Francis Shutts made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Shutts was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Nathan Hale got a massive performance out of Ellen Belknap, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Ainslie Smith was another key player, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Bothell hit Eastside Catholic with a five-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Crusaders came up short against the Cougars, falling 15-5.
Eastside Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kailee McCauley, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Nathan Hale's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Eastside Catholic, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Nathan Hale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Eastside Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
