The Aynor Blue Jackets will head out on the road to square off against the Philip Simmons Iron Horses at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Aynor came up short against Loris and fell 51-43.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Shanya Alston, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Paisley Page was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Philip Simmons had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.8 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They came out on top against Battery Creek by a score of 45-32. Given Philip Simmons' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Battery Creek is ranked 243rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Philip Simmons can attribute much of their success to Lily Buceti, who scored 15 points. It was the first time this season that Buceti scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenira Holmes, who scored nine points.
Aynor's loss dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Philip Simmons, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Aynor have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Philip Simmons struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
