1A-1 Region I District 4 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Hagen Hutchinson and James Washington provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Haskell. The connection was good for 97 yards, the longest such play in 1A-1 Region I District 4 this season.
Anson extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Winters, 61-25. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Tigers.
Stamford's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Hutchinson threw for 288 and four touchdowns and Washington had 139 yards receiving. On the ground Mario Gonzales chipped in 43 yards. Dalton Mathis helped Stamford's passing attack out by catching four balls for 99 yards.
Stamford's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hutchinson has thrown for 1633 yards and 27 touchdowns this season, while Washington has 41 catches for 678 yards. Hutchinson also leads the league in rushing with 697 yards.
A big matchup in 1A-1 Region I District 4 this week will be when the Indians take on Anson. At the moment, Haskell is in fourth, while the Tigers are in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Forsan and the Bulldogs face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Buffaloes comes in having scored 118 this season, while Stamford has scored 312.
Anson moved up to 504 from 539 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers were able to make move up by besting the Blizzards 61-25.
