Whiteville has gone a perfect 9-0 against Red Springs recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wolfpack will venture away from home to challenge the Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. Whiteville is looking for their season's first win.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Whiteville's offense. They came up short against South Brunswick on Thursday, falling 18-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Wolfpack haven't been shut out since back in March.
Meanwhile, Red Springs can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. Everything went their way against Seventy-First as they made off with a 16-0 victory. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
Bailey Locklear made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Goins, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Locklear, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Red Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Whiteville's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Red Springs, their record now sits at 6-10.
Whiteville was able to grind out a solid win over Red Springs in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, winning 5-1. Do the Wolfpack have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
