It was a good run, but the Ocean Township Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Red Bank Catholic, falling 71-39. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ocean Township has scored all season.
Red Bank Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addy Nyemchek led the charge by scoring 12 points along with three steals and three blocks. The contest was Nyemchek's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Christina Liggio was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five steals.
Ocean Township's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2. As for Red Bank Catholic, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
Ocean Township won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Point Pleasant Beach at 5:30 p.m. on January 4th. Point Pleasant Beach will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 324th, while Ocean Township is ranked 67th).
