The Bacon County Raiders had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 52-40 win over Brooks County on Friday. For Bacon County, this counts as revenge for the 71-52 loss the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Bacon County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier Harris led the charge by scoring 14 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Lemarcus Wright, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kanilyn Jones, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Jones hasn't dropped below three steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Timothy Goss, who scored five points along with two steals.
Bacon County's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Brooks County, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-14.
Bacon County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Indians at 5:30 p.m. on January 27th. Irwin County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season. As for Brooks County, they will head out on the road to take on the Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Cook focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
