Waterbury Career Academy hasn't had much luck against Naugatuck recently, but that could start to change  on Thursday. The Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Greyhounds  at 5:15  p.m. Waterbury Career Academy is coming into the  matchup hot, having won their last three games.
Waterbury Career Academy barely beat Oxford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp  3-0 win on Friday.
 Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-21,  25-18.
 Erika Mila-Perez was the offensive standout of the  match as she  had eight  digs and three  aces.
 Mila-Perez wasn't the only good servers: Waterbury Career Academy  was lethal from the service line and  finished the match with 15  aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  served at least 15  aces in three consecutive  contests.
Meanwhile, Naugatuck came up short against Holy Cross on Friday and fell  3-1. The loss was the Greyhounds' first of the season.
 Naugatuck started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 11-25, 25-12, 25-23,  25-19.
 Waterbury Career Academy's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Naugatuck, their  defeat was their first of the  season and  makes their record 15-1.
 Waterbury Career Academy might still be hurting after the  3-0 loss they got from Naugatuck  when the teams last played  back in October of 2024.
