The Wheeler Warriors will challenge the Berwick Academy Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wheeler is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Wheeler was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Concord Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since May 7, 2024.

Ben Diaz was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Wheeler's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 3-5-1 when he doesn't). Diaz was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jake Charlton and Evren Ozbek did most of the damage at the plate: Charlton went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Ozbek went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Ozbek has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Himelfarb, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Berwick Academy has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to Beaver Country Day.
Berwick Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Murray, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Wheeler's win bumped their record up to 5-6-1. As for Berwick Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wheeler has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Berwick Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wheeler suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Berwick Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
