Statesboro and Bradwell Institute are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Statesboro Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on the Bradwell Institute Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Statesboro comes in on 13 and Bradwell Institute on six.
On Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Statesboro beat Jenkins 59-54. Given Statesboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Jenkins is ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Reya Johnson was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with five assists and five rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Staten, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Bradwell Institute ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 victory over Coffee. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Bradwell Institute has posted yet this season.
Parris Parham continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times she's played. Jordyn Rogers was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds.
Statesboro's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. Bradwell Institute's record now sits at 15-1.
Statesboro came up short against Bradwell Institute in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 50-37. Can Statesboro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
