The Mansfield Wolverines can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Rapides and snuck past 45-42.
Rapides' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Christopher Newton, who scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Newton scored a full 31% of Rapides' points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Antwon Jones was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 9 rebounds.
Mansfield's win bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Rapides, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mansfield will square off against Carroll at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rapides, they will head out on the road to face off against Glenmora at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Glenmora has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 194 points over their last three games.
