Basketball Recap: Lewis Cass Drops Highest Score of Season Against Rochester

Lewis Cass scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Rochester Zebras by a score of 58-55. While losing is never fun, the Kings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while the Zebras are ranked 186th).

Lewis Cass' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryce Rudd, who went 8 of 13 en route to 19 points, and Brennan Deeter, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points. The dominant performance gave Deeter a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Julian Levine, who posted seven points.

Drew Bowers was his usual excellent self, going 8 for 11 on his way to 22 points along with six boards and five assists for Rochester. Tanner Reinartz was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Lewis Cass has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Rochester, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Lewis Cass has already played their next contest (against Logansport), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Rochester will take on Caston at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Caston knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Rochester likes a good challenge.
