The Burton Pumas were the 55-29 winner over the Marshall Phoenix when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Burton fell 53-43 to the Phoenix on Wednesday. Burton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marshall to victory, but perhaps none more so than Robert Fields, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Tayvion Lawrence was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
Burton has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Marshall, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-11.
Burton will play host again and welcome the Phoenix, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Marshall, they will head out on the road to challenge the Hawks at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
