The Battlefield Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Loudoun Valley Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Battlefield has three straight wins, Loudoun Valley has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Battlefield took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Brentsville District, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bobcats had just enough and edged out the Tigers 11-9.
Olivia Morse spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned (and one unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Battlefield got a massive performance out of Chloe Baird, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Baird continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lauren Wolf, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-6.
Meanwhile, Loudoun Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Lightridge on Thursday and fell 4-2. The game marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Loudoun Valley saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harlie Reich, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Battlefield's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Loudoun Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Loudoun Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Battlefield has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Loudoun Valley, though, as they've been averaging 10.2 hits. Given Battlefield's sizable advantage in that area, the Vikings will need to find a way to close that gap.
Battlefield took their win against Loudoun Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
