The Monte Vista Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the San Ramon Valley Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monte Vista will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 154th, while San Ramon Valley is ranked 21st).
Monte Vista's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 31-7 loss at the hands of De La Salle. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, Monte Vista couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, San Ramon Valley stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Foothill 45-14 at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as San Ramon Valley just coasted through the last quarter.
Luke Baker was a one-man wrecking crew for San Ramon Valley as he threw for 385 yards and five touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Owen Scott, who picked up 200 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Monte Vista now has a losing record at 4-5. As for San Ramon Valley, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.
Monte Vista was dealt a bruising 48-20 defeat at the hands of San Ramon Valley when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Monte Vista, Trevor Scott (who picked up 179 receiving yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
