Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Brighton's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Brighton won the last time they faced Open Door Christian Academy, and Reid Williams did his part to make sure it happened again. The Brighton Bengals were the clear victor by a 62-39 margin over the Open Door Christian Academy Conquerors on Tuesday thanks in part to Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten steals. He has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times he's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of William Arrington, who posted eight points and five rebounds. Those eight points gave him a new career-high.

Several Conquerors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lathan McMichael, who earned six points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chris Martin, who put up nine points.

Brighton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Open Door Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Brighton and Immanuel Christian will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 5:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Brighton is facing Immanuel Christian at the right time seeing as Immanuel Christian is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Open Door Christian Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
