The Colony Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Chugiak Mustangs at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Colony is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
Colony is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Houston 17-0 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Chase Carlson made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Carlson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Colony got a massive performance out of Easton Cook, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that Cook has brought in this season. Boman Marks was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Colony always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Chugiak faced West Anchorage in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Eagles 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since May 16, 2024.
Jonah Shearer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Tyler Cage and Blake Yawit did most of the damage at the plate: Cage went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Yawit went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Cage has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jack Carron, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Colony's record now sits at 5-3. As for Chugiak, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-6.
