The Tillamook Cheesemakers are taking a road trip to square off against the Nestucca Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tillamook is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
Tillamook lost 19-4 to Scappoose on Tuesday.
Jaedyn Haertel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Hannah Obrist was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Nestucca, as they earned their first away win of the season. They blew past Vernonia 14-2 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Loggers: they've now won seven in a row.
Piper Armstrong made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Armstrong was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, McKennah McDonald was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Rylee Armstrong, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Nestucca always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vernonia only posted an OBP of .286.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-7. As for Tillamook, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Tillamook hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Nestucca struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
