Yerington has gone a perfect 3-0 against Sierra Lutheran recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Yerington has ten straight wins, Sierra Lutheran has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Yerington and Battle Mountain meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Lions were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Longhorns. Considering the Lions have won 16 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexis Martinez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colby Rowe, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Toby Juarez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Sierra Lutheran came up short against Pershing County on Saturday and fell 6-1.
Sierra Lutheran saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Ricks, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double.
Yerington's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Sierra Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-17-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Yerington has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sierra Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Yerington took their victory against Sierra Lutheran when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-3 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
