Independence's Vincent Rambo rumbled for the longest rushing play in Columbus City - South this season in his game against West last week. Rambo ran for 39 yards on the play and finished with 201 on the day as his team beat the Cowboys.
Marion-Franklin extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Eastmoor Academy, 6-0. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Romance Hill put up the best numbers through the air as Independence topped West. He finished with a total of four completions for 80 yards and one touchdown. Hill's favorite target this week was Iman Lowery, who caught two passes for 52 yards.
Joe Alverson was the best wideout in the league this week as Marion-Franklin beat the Warriors. Alverson tallied three receptions for 61 yards. Jaron Dukes helped Marion-Franklin's passing attack out by catching two balls for 30 yards.
Walnut Ridge's Marquez Toney and Rob Wheelwright have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Columbus City - South in both passing and receiving yards. Toney has thrown for 1058 yards this season, while Wheelwright, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 37 catches for 689 yards. Rambo from Maurice Douglas' team leads the league in rushing with 1722 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the 76ers take on the Scots. Independence's offense has recorded 394 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Walnut Ridge has permitted only 123 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the 76ers take on Byron Mattox's team. At the moment, Independence is in third, while the Scots are in second.
The 76ers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,595 from 4,909. The advance stemmed from a 61-0 victory over Michael Flusche's team last week.
