Volleyball Recap: Mansfield Wins Going Away Against Laquey

The Mansfield Lions made easy work of the Laquey Hornets on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

While Mansfield won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-13, 25-23.

Mansfield found their leader in freshman Patience Parsons, who had eight digs and four aces. Parsons is crushing it when it comes to aces: she's served at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Mansfield was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Mansfield now has a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Mansfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Seymour at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Laquey, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Viburnum at 5:00 p.m. on the 18th.
