Softball Recap: Granite City Has No Trouble Against Collinsville

Granite City's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Collinsville Kahoks. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Kahoks: they've now won three in a row.

Christine Myers made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Granite City let Cheyenne Gaddie and Chloe Randolph run wild. Gaddie fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3, while Randolph went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and four runs. That's the most hits Randolph has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rachel Willaredt, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Granite City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Granite City's win bumped their record up to 9-16. As for Collinsville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 16 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.

Granite City will welcome Waterloo at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for the Warriors: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while the Bulldogs have snatched up six consecutive wins on the road. As for Collinsville, they will square off against East St. Louis at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Kahoks are facing the Flyers at the right time seeing as the Flyers are stuck on a 17-game losing streak.
