The Ray Bearcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Mogollon Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Ray is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
On Tuesday, everything went Ray's way against Anthem Prep as Ray made off with an 18-4 win. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for the Bearcats this season.

The team relied heavily on James Ruiz, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Ray's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Xavier Granillo also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Ray was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Mogollon hadn't done well against Alchesay recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Mogollon walked away with a 9-4 victory over Alchesay. The win was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on four straight.
Chancy Worsley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Rocky Porter was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Yoyo Suarez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Mogollon pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing seven strikeouts in those games compared to only four in the others. As for Ray, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Ray suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Mogollon when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can Ray avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
