The Sahuaro Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Flowing Wells by a score of 64-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Sahuaro lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cassandra Coolidge, who scored 29 points along with six rebounds. The match was Coolidge's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristen Valdez, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Sahuaro's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Flowing Wells, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Sahuaro will be playing in front of their home fans against Pueblo at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Pueblo is ranked 46th, while Sahuaro is ranked 57th). As for Flowing Wells, they will head out on the road to face off against Mountain View at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
