The Grace Christian Crusaders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 73-72 to Chatham HomeSchool. While losing is never fun, Grace Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Chatham HomeSchool is ranked 134th).
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jimmy Zimmerman, who scored 19 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Jones, who scored 18 points.
Zach Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chatham HomeSchool, scoring 22 points along with 5 rebounds. Luke Coletta was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 5 rebounds.
Grace Christian has fallen quite a ways from their 23-11 record last season and are now at 2-6. As for Chatham HomeSchool, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grace Christian will take on Seaforth at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chatham HomeSchool, they will be playing at home against New Life Camp at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. New Life Camp is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
