After flying high against the Northwood Panthers on Thursday, the Holston Cavaliers came back down to earth. Holston was beaten by the Tigers 71-12 on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Holston in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost nine in a row.
Honaker's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tailor Nolley, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Nolley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Kathryn Jessee was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Holston's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.8 points per game. As for Honaker, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-3.
Holston will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. As for Honaker, they will head out on the road to take on the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Patrick Henry will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 395th, while the Tigers are ranked 71st).
