The Northeast Bearcats pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Westran 61-56. Northeast has struggled against Westran recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Westran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trent Brandow led the charge by scoring 21 points. Another player making a difference was Marshall Kitchen, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds.
Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Westran, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Northeast will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Knox County at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Westran's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wellsville-Middletown at 5:30 p.m. on January 2nd. Wellsville-Middletown is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
