Potomac Falls is 0-3 against Lightridge since April of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Panthers will welcome the Bolts at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Potomac Falls turned things around against Meridian on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 13-3 victory. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Kalyn Biggs made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Biggs was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Amelia Cave was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lyla Daugherty-Moysey, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Potomac Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meridian only posted an OBP of .368.
Meanwhile, Lightridge strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Potomac Falls 11-1.
Lightridge got a massive performance out of Emmi Harris, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Harris has launched this season. Alexa Knapp was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Lightridge's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Potomac Falls, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Potomac Falls hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Lightridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Potomac Falls might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Lightridge in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
