The Sneads Pirates managed to keep up with the Maclay Marauders until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Sneads suffered a rough 39-17 defeat at the hands of the Marauders. Sneads has not had much luck with the Marauders recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Ella Sprouse and Jamea Williams certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Sprouse scored three points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Williams scored five points along with three steals and two blocks. Sprouse hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Among those leading the charge was Aleeza Moore, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Guyer, who scored nine points.
Sneads dropped their record down to 4-12 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.0 points per game. As for Maclay, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Sneads won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on January 19th. One thing working in Blountstown's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games. As for Maclay, they will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
