The La Vernia Bears won the last time they faced the Pleasanton Eagles, and things went their way on Friday too. La Vernia took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 40-7 victory over Pleasanton. The result was nothing new for La Vernia, who have now won five contests by 22 points or more so far this season.
La Vernia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keegan Hajek led the charge by throwing for 190 yards and five touchdowns on only 12 passes. Another player making a difference was Logan Maytum, who picked up 92 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
La Vernia's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Henry Dirks and his two sacks.
The victory makes it two in a row for La Vernia and bumps their season record up to 6-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34 points. As for Pleasanton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Vernia will square off against Jones at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pleasanton, they will head out on the road to face off against Floresville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
