Central Valley is a perfect 8-0 against Hopewell since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Warriors will square off against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Central Valley put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They really took it to Quaker Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-21 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-0.
Braddock Ambrose was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 132 yards and two TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in one rushing score. Central Valley's defense stepped up as well, laying out Atticus Barr ten times. Quaker Valley's QB won't forget Brendan Alexander anytime soon given he sacked him four times. Alexander is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last 18 games he's played dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Hopewell waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took down the Yellowjackets 41-26. The Vikings pushed the score to 35-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Yellowjackets cut but never quite recovered from.
Hopewell found their leader in sophomore Nasir Wade, who rushed for 182 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries. Those 182 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Wade. Tre Cameron was in the mix too, providing Hopewell with two TDs.
Hopewell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Zander Muzy and Wade. Wade got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The victory got Central Valley back to even at 4-4. As for Hopewell, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Central Valley has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 187.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hopewell struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 220.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Central Valley took their victory against Hopewell in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 44-20 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
