Desert Edge (Goodyear, Ariz.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 9 in Arizona, but was stunned by
Queen Creek (Ariz.), 9-7. Queen Creek was ranked at No. 10 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Arizona coming into the week.
The score was knotted at zero heading into the half. The Bulldogs took the lead for good on a safety with under a minute left in the fourth quarter.
Queen Creek didn't take the lead for good until the the fourth quarter when it recorded a safety.
The Scorpions'
Kyle Woolard played well. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 17 touchdowns on the season.
Matt Guida was the top performer for QC. The junior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 32 touchdowns on the season.
Desert Edge's lone touchdown came on a 5-yard run by Woolard in the third quarter.
The Bulldogs came into the game allowing 6.5 points per game. DE's seven points were well below its season average of 45.6 per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Desert Edge, which notched a 37-27 victory over Williams Field in its previous outing.
