The Mountain View Academy Mustangs struggled with assists on Thursday (the More Knights had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Mountain View Academy took a serious blow against More, falling 75-36. Mountain View Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-22.
Mountain View Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Daniel Malo, who scored ten points along with three steals. The contest was Malo's third in a row with at least ten points. Christopher Mercado was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
More was led to victory by Bernard Vogel and Tim Selway. Vogel dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Selway dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Selway has scored at least 25% of More's points. Another player making a difference was Joseph Vaccarezza , who scored ten points.
Mountain View Academy bumped their record down to 2-2 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for More, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on KIPP San Jose Collegiate at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024. As for More, they will head out on the road to face off against Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Valley Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than More in California (Valley Christian is ranked 270th, while More is ranked 691st).
