After a string of seven wins, the Elbert Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fountain Valley. Elbert was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Fountain Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Elbert lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caleb Cornell, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Cornell is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Tesman, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Fountain Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nick Prantl led the charge by scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Tenzin Tinley, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Elbert's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4. As for Fountain Valley, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elbert will take on Dolores Huerta Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Dolores Huerta Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Saturday. As for Fountain Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against The Vanguard School at 6:00 p.m. The Vanguard School is coming into the contest with six straight wins on the road, meaning Fountain Valley will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
