Hannibal is a perfect 3-0 against Seymour since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Hannibal is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Highland get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Tuesday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

05/12/25 @ Montgomery County | 1 |

The team relied heavily on Patrick Arthaud, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cooper Scott, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hannibal kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.6.
Seymour never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against North Greene on Monday. They came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 11-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Indians' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Blake Schwartz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Seymour: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, Nick Boone was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Seymour's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Sparks, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Hannibal's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-14. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Seymour, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hannibal has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Seymour struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hannibal took their win against Seymour in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-1 score. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
