The Mount Dora Hurricanes fell victim to the Eustis Panthers''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 28-0 loss at the hands of the Panthers. It was the first time this season that Mount Dora let down their fans at home.
Even if they lost, Mount Dora's defense sure didn't make it easy: Eustis' QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Russell Fickett and his two sacks.
Eustis' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Troy Saladin, who threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Tymir Gaines, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown.
Mount Dora's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Eustis, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Dora will take on Lake Howell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Lake Howell is ranked 308th, while Mount Dora is ranked 297th). Eustis will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Merritt Island at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
