Basketball Game Preview: Hope Academy vs. West Lutheran Warriors

Hope Academy and West Lutheran are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. Hope Academy will face off against the West Lutheran Warriors at 8:15 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Hope Academy had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 57-point drubbing they dealt Lakes International Language Academy on Friday. Hope Academy claimed a resounding 72-15 victory over Lakes International Language Academy.

Meanwhile, West Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 77-74 heartbreaker at the hands of Cleveland.

Hope Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points over those games. As for West Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.

Hope Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against West Lutheran when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 67-62 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hope Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
