Heritage Academy has gone 7-1-1 against Mission Heights Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Heroes will challenge the Phantoms at 4:00 p.m. One thing working in Heritage Academy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
On Tuesday, Heritage Academy got the win against Ridgeline Academy by a conclusive 20-4. The Heroes haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Tatum Meeker made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sarahi Rico, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. Emily Person was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Heritage Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Mission Heights Prep sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 17-16 win over Imagine Prep Coolidge on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Phantoms.
Hadley Feik was a standout: she scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
Mission Heights Prep's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Heritage Academy, their record is now 14-1.
Mission Heights Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Heritage Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Mission Heights Prep, though, as they've been averaging 9.9 hits. Given Heritage Academy's sizable advantage in that area, the Phantoms will need to find a way to close that gap.
Heritage Academy took their victory against Mission Heights Prep in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 19-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Heroes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
