The Salem Wildcats can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They breezed by East Alton-Wood River on the road to the tune of 62-34. That looming 62-34 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Salem yet this season.
Salem's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Connor Tennyson, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. The contest was Tennyson's third in a row with at least ten points. Gavin Zimmermann was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Salem's victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for East Alton-Wood River, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salem will finish 2023 at home by hosting Carlyle at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Carlyle will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. East Alton-Wood River will be home for the holidays to greet Greenville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Greenville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East Alton-Wood River in Illinois (Greenville is ranked 261st, while East Alton-Wood River is ranked 669th).
